You can see this (top picture) and other burial mounds in the area of Stonehenge. Crops circles are common in the nearby fields, and the light phenomenon 'earthshine' is seen in this area. Not far from the mounds you come to Avebury which is encircled by a large trench and stone circle with a 4,000 foot circumference. Most of the stones have been moved to make room for agriculture or reused to build houses. In the fourteenth century the Christian church gave orders for the destruction of the heathen 'cult' site. The stones seen here resemble a serpent snaking through the circle.
