Crystal Cathedral, California

The Crystal Cathedral is a Protestant Christian megachurch in the city of Garden Grove, in Orange County, California. The prominent architect, Philip Johnson, designed the main sanctuary building. It was constructed using over 10,000 rectangular panes of glass, and its sanctuary seats 2,736 persons. The rectangular panes of glass are not bolted to the structure; instead they are glued to it using a silicone-based glue. This and other measures are intended to allow the building to withstand an earthquake of magnitude 8.0.

Limestone Caves at Rifle Falls

I think the round orbs you see are a product of water droplets in the air, not some disembodied spiritual energy... But who knows? The caves are sort of mysterious.

Rifle Falls, Colorado

 

This is a lush area of trees and greenery kept moist by the spray of the cascading triple waterfall. We picnicked near the falls. Mysterious limestone caves beneath the falls are enticing. Rifle Falls State Park has 13 drive-in and seven walk-in campsites that sit to the south along East Rifle Creek.

Worth every cent! It doesn't really cost that much, and they get to keep their make-up kit and comb and brush. They were adorable to watch.

Glenwood Caverns Adventure Park, Colorado

The pictures really do tell the story on this. Kids large and small as well as adults have a great time here. You get an incredible view of the valley below. We went on a Friday and Saturday and never had much of a wait for any ride. It is well worth the time and money. We were there all day and if we wouldn't have had a long ride home, we would have happily stayed all night too!

The soda straw formations are fascinating.

Pictures can't do it justice, so you'll just have to visit these caverns. There are three miles of mapped caverns, but that is only the tip of the iceberg as far as how much more there is inside this mountain. You can get a seventy minute walking guided tour, or if you are brave and have time, you can go spelunking for three hours into more remote parts of the cave system. It is totally worth the time and money. Amazing!
